SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

inBetween Literary Journal is a biannual, international literary journal. We accept submissions year round, and there is no fee to submit. We accept submissions of poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction, and hybrid/experimental work. Dedicated to creating a high quality literary journal, we are selective in our process. It may take up to 1 month for a response. Should your work be accepted we will request a short bio.

All work must be submitted to submissions@inbetweenlitmag.com.

We ONLY accept work from LGBTQIA++ identifying writers, and loved ones, whose work explores the theme of the in between (however that manifests for you). Our goal is to publish work that may otherwise go unpublished– voices of those whose experience does not fit neatly within common narratives.

If your work is accepted, you agree to grant inBetween Literary Journal First North American Serial Rights, all archival rights, plus the rights to reprint in any future special issues. Upon publication all rights revert back to the author. You agree that if your poem(s) appear elsewhere (in print or online), you will give appropriate credit to in Between Literary Journal.

MORE ON WHAT WE MEAN BY IN BETWEEN

This is certainly a broad concept that could mean something different for everyone. From a literal experience of in between gender norms or sexuality to a more esoteric approach of how we connect as humans, the interpretation and experience is up to the writer. Our primary goal and hope is to publish and promote work for those within the LGBTQIA++ community who have struggled to find an appropriate and welcoming platform for their work– whether that is due to intersectionality around race, nationality, ethnicity, neuro-diversity, gender non-conformity, disability, mental illness, relationship non-conformity, or something else entirely. We also seek the voice and experiences of LGBTQIA++ loved ones. We value and cherish the support and love those close to us provide; an often untapped spring of powerful experiences. Please keep in mind that inBetween is a high quality literary journal. While we are sensitive to forms of gatekeeping, we also want to deliver polished work for our readers.
